This piece began on a 2015 trip to Salzburg, Austria and an ascent via cable-car to the summit of the Untersberg.  Though cable-cars are a relatively safe way to travel, there can certainly be nerve-racking moments, especially when the car "bumps" over a tower and dips down the other side.  However, those who brave this ascent are rewarded with magnificent vistas and an exhilarating ride.  The best part of this particular ascent comes about half-way up: the cable-lift crests the top of a sub-peak, and the earth simply drops from underneath you, leaving the valley far below.
