During my many years as a church music director, I have found joy in hiring small orchestras for cantatas and special services. I always wished the orchestra could also participate in the congregational hymns for those Sundays, and so began Orchestrations for Congregations, a collection of hymns written for orchestra with varied and colorful writing yet still practical for use with congregational singing. Most are written for three verses, with clear, numbered rehearsal marks denoting each verse and allowing for easy flexibility in skipping and repeating sections.
